For all New Year's resolutioners, the key to seeing results for the New Year is to not burn yourself out. Don't feel like you have to work out 7 days a week and cut all the bad food out of your diet, all at one time. Your first commitment was walking into the gym. Then start out with smaller commitments to yourself such as: 2 or 3 days a week working out and just eating smaller portions. Once you complete that commitment, and then take it to the next comfortable level.
